The Inspiration

November 11th, 2006

One morning two weeks ago, very similar to many others in my working life, at the Waterloo railway station (London, England), I stepped off the train onto a platform seething with grumpy commuters, all pushing and bumping their way down the stairs on platforms 15 and 16 to the Underground. I looked over my shoulder at the sea of grim faces and above them the railway clock, an orange oblong with yellow digits read 08:50. It was a great image and wished I had my camera. I wondered what was going on the world at this moment in time? What goes on in Toyko, or New York or what about the Gobi desert or a farm in Poland at ten to nine in the morning?

Hence this site: The ‘08fifty’ project. The aim is collect the best photos of the social world, taken at 0850, and show them here.
